Caroline Bowder-Ridger
Caroline graduated from Canterbury Collage of Art in 1991, now known as the University of Creative Arts (UCA), with a BA(hons) in painting.
Caroline’s work directly responds to the urban environment’s patterns and textures.
Caroline is fascinated by how human habitation leaves its mark on its surroundings, leaving scars and memories for future generations.
During the painting process, the re-working of the canvas, layering, texture and mark making becomes important in recording the passage of time, the complexity of urban life and the continual decay and renewal of the city.
My works on paper explore the same theme and, as a result, are often multilayered with mixed media.
